Artwork of the day. Salt Cave

This dramatic photograph captures the haunting beauty of the world’s largest salt mine, located in Khewra, Pakistan. The mine’s history dates back to the troops of Alexander the Great, who are said to have discovered it over 2,000 years ago. The image shows a vast underground chamber, illuminated by an otherworldly light that seems to emanate from the walls themselves. The smoothed edges of the salt formations create a stark contrast against the deep shadows, and the overall effect is both eerie and mesmerizing. In the distance, you can see the faint outlines of other caverns, hinting at the vastness of this underground world. This photograph is a stunning reminder of the incredible natural wonders that can be found in even the most unexpected of places.

A photo of a cave can be hung in a variety of places depending on the style and theme of the space, as well as the size and type of the photo. Here are some ideas:

  1. Living room: A large, high-quality photo of a cave could make a stunning focal point for a living room. It could be hung above a couch or fireplace, or on a large empty wall.
  2. Bedroom: A smaller, more intimate photo of a cave could be hung in a bedroom. It could be part of a gallery wall or hung on its own above a bed or dresser.
  3. Office: A photo of a cave could add a sense of depth and wonder to an office space. It could be hung behind a desk or on a wall with other nature-themed artwork.
  4. Restaurant or hotel: A photo of a cave could be a great addition to a restaurant or hotel with a natural or adventurous theme. It could be hung in a lobby or dining area to create a sense of ambiance.
  5. Gallery: If the photo is particularly artistic or unique, it could be hung in a gallery or exhibition space to showcase the beauty of the cave.

Ultimately, the choice of where to hang a photo of a cave will depend on personal preference, the style of the space, and the size and type of the photo. Finally home

Went on personal holidays to capture famous Cherry Blossom of Hunza Valley, up in north of Pakistan in Karakorum Mountain range. We came across small landslides through our road trip until we reached more than half way and learned those small landslides have become huge landslides and blocked the KKH (Karakoram Highway) from 90 different locations so massive that it was not usable and not at all safe to travel. So i was stranded along with friends in place called Shatyal for 5 days without access to network or other facilities. 5th day road was partially resumed and we reached Gilgit where Government of Pakistan organized evacuation of stranded tourists.

Though i was unable to document landslide (as it was quite life threatening, we prefered running out of landslides area without a break) i spent some time shooting with locals and others who were stranded in same place.

Some good vibes

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything – Plato.

Met this man singing a peace of sufi poetry by Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, a 16th century sufi saint from Sindh region, now in Pakistan. The man was fully indulged in musical ritual at shirne of Shah Abdul, devotees perform this ritual 24/7 and it never stops.

Canvas of life, color and action

As i keep evaluating my personal website www.awaisyaqub.com hosted by SmugMug for better viewing experience. One key issue was with big watermarks on images which are embedded automatically when i upload images to gallery. Thankfully, SmugMug allows it to change whenever user wants, so i went ahead and shrunk the watermark to smaller signature in corner and disabled right click protection. This will allow visitors to save and share images quickly and enjoy the art rather than trying not to see the watermark.

Hope you will like the new title of website Canvas of life, color and action
